Biography

Michael Dobinson is an upcoming PhD student in the Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University, supervised by Dr. Stephanie Simmons. In 2018 he completed his BEng in Electrical Engineering at the University of Victoria before working in the marine industry, designing electronic ship steering systems. Starting a Master’s program at the University of Victoria in 2020, he worked in the Nanoplasmonics Research Group under Dr. Reuven Gordon. He obtained a MASc in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2022 with research focussed on nanoaperture optical trapping of quantum light source candidates.
